Install a mod
Install a mod
Section titled “Install a mod”Use this workflow to match Minecraft, your mod loader, the mod file, and all required dependencies before launching the game.
1. Confirm the Minecraft version
Section titled “1. Confirm the Minecraft version”Choose the Minecraft version in your launcher first. Builds for 1.21.x, 26.1.x, and 26.2.x may use different files even when the mod name is identical. Check both the file name and the supported versions on Modrinth.
2. Choose one mod loader
Section titled “2. Choose one mod loader”Install Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge. Do not mix JAR files for different loaders inside the same game directory.
3. Check dependencies
Section titled “3. Check dependencies”Most mods documented here use Simple GUI API. Read the dependency field on the mod overview and download the dependency for the same Minecraft version and loader.
4. Add the JAR files
Section titled “4. Add the JAR files”Place the mod and its dependencies in the game directory’s mods folder. Do not extract the JAR and do not place a loader installer in the mods folder.
5. Verify after launch
Section titled “5. Verify after launch”Check that the mod appears in the title-screen mod list or in Minecraft’s key binding screen. If its settings screen does not open, verify the dependency and loader combination first.
